Born from the legacy of a 55+ year old co-ed tradition, Valley Forge Cavalry girls hockey club is a bold new chapter dedicated exclusively to girls 12+. We recognize that girls hockey isn’t just the same game in a different jersey - it’s a dynamic space where teamwork, identity and leadership thrive in powerful ways. 

The Cavalry is a values driven organization. We will adhere to a set of principles and ethics to inform everything that we strive to do and stand for. Those core values include:

Why start with Bantams (14U)?

The game of ice hockey is played under the same rules, surface, and tactics for EVERYONE from Atoms (6U) through PeeWees (12U). Unlike softball/baseball or lacrosse, hockey more aligns with soccer with the promotion of co-ed leagues at all levels. We recognize that beginning at the 14U level body checking becomes legal and that it is the main/only difference in the men’s and women’s game. The men’s and women’s game have never been closer with the speed and skill becoming just as, if not more, valued than strength and physicality for the men’s game and the allowance of more body contact and physicality along the boards while restricting open ice hits in the newly formed PWHL for the women’s game.

For this reason, we encourage co-ed play through the 12U age level and work hand in hand with Oaks Center Ice, VF Minutemen (Tier I), and VF Colonials (Tier II) for the promotion of providing a positive hockey experience for EVERYONE.
